"Dark Skies" (PG-13, 97 minutes, Dimension Films/Anchor Bay): This is a workmanlike piece of suspense, despite its reliance on several tired tropes of the genre.

New York, NY – May 21, 2013 – Kino Lorber is proud to announce that it has acquired all US rights to Jia Zhangke’s (24 City, Still Life) latest film A Touch Of Sin, a four-part story inspired by real-life events and focused on the violent impact (and hefty human sacrifice) of the Chinese economic boom on its own citizens. While prepping the film for a late fall or early winter national theatrical release, Kino Lorber will book this acclaimed Chinese film in select film festivals across the United States. This deal was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and MK2′s International Sales Executive Victoire Thevenin. The New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis recently referred to A Touch Of Sin as Jia Zhangke’s “finest film since his 2006 feature Still Life,” also describing it as “a portrait of contemporary China told through four savagely violent episodes that take place in distinct areas of the country.” Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber spoke about the film while still at Cannes: “I’ve been both a follower and admirer of Jia’s work for many years, but A Touch Of Sin struck me like lightning. Watching this film was a bracing cinematic experience, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to introduce this bold and unique title to a wide audience in the US.” Besides A Touch Of Sin, Kino Lorber also recently acquired all US and Canadian rights to the Tribeca and Berlin Film Festival winner The Rocket, written and directed by rising talent Kim Mordaunt (Bomb Harvest).

We already know that director Michael Bay is revamping the franchise with Transformers 4, bringing in a whole new cast including Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, and Bingbing Li. An unconfirmed rumor has surfaced that reveals potential spoilers below, so read on at your own risk.According to unidentified sources, the director plans on bringing back the Dinobots from the 1980s Transformers animated series, including Grimlock. The report also indicates that one of the main villains will be a character named Lockdown, who possesses a ship full of decommissioned Transformers, including the Dinobots, who are reactivated by Optimus Prime. Both Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will reportedly ride the Dinobots Grimlock and a Pterandon (possibly Swoop) into battle in Hong Kong, which falls in line with the news from last month that the sequel will be partially shot in China.The Autobot Hound is also set to make its big screen debut, along with Galvatron, a "reborn" version of the villain Megatron. There is also a new Transformer who is a "samurai" warrior that used to be a Decepticon, but wants to switch sides to the Autobots. We reported in April that shooting will begin next month in Michigan and Chicago, with the production shifting to China in October.The information reportedly came from a recent marketing event, but has not been confirmed (or denied) by Paramount yet. We'll have to wait and see if any official confirmations or denials come through from either Michael Bay or Paramount Pictures regarding these details.We should also point out that a similar story broke back in April 8, 2011, in regards to Transformers: Dark of the Moon and its inclusion of the Dinobots, based on some pre-released Dinobot toys featuring the Dark of the Moon logo on their packaging. The Dinos didn't make it into the final film, but maybe this time they will. And to keep a joke running throughout this series of films, we just got off the phone with our old pal Danny DeVito, who once again confirms that Mike Patton will be voicing Grimlock.
