A couple wanders the streets, no one willing to take them in, despite the fact that the woman is about to give birth. It could be the story of the birth of Jesus, but it could also be a contemporary immigration tale. Carlos Baron’s “La Posarela” explores this parallel — one that should be all the more resonant in an era when anti-immigration sentiment has somehow become a part of the Christian right’s political platform. Originally commissioned by the Mission District’s Community Music Center, the telenovela of a play is now in a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company (or BATCO) production, directed by Marcelo Javier Pereira.
