Neighbors may have heard gunfire near Deering High School in Portland Saturday morning, but it was all part of a drill. About 150 law enforcement officers, emergency responders and volunteers took part in the active shooter response training. Planning for the event took several months, according to Christopher Sanborn, the deputy police chief for the Gorham Police Department and the Region 2 training coordinator for Cumberland County.
