A 27-year-old Ponte Vedra man was killed Thursday on Interstate 95 when the wheel assembly on a large truck came loose and crashed through the windshield of a Mitsubishi Lancer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Michael Harper was northbound about 5 p.m. in the Lancer on I-95 in St. Johns County when the wheel assembly went over the median from the southbound lanes and crashed through his windshield, according to the Highway Patrol. Michael Hunter, 43, of Daytona Beach was driving the truck southbound when the wheel assembly came loose, according to the FHP. read more
