A colonoscopy is a screening test for colorectal cancer. During the test, your physician uses a flexible tube with a camera on the end of it to look at the colon, and remove any polyps. The American Cancer Society recommends that people of average risk for colorectal cancer have a colonoscopy every 10 years starting at age 50.
