A 77-year-old woman was taken into protective custody Tuesday after brandishing a gun at family members during a dispute in San Mateo, authorities said. Officers received a 911 call just before 5 p.m. about a family argument that escalated at a home on the 1600 block of Maxine Avenue, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Upon arrival, officers were able to get the woman’s family members outside the house to safety, police said. It’s unclear how many family members were involved in the reported standoff, but no one was injured. Crisis Intervention Trained officers and the Crisis Negotiations Team convinced the woman to exit the residence unarmed, police said.
