If you’ve been around Kingsport as long as me, it’s hard to imagine you’ve never heard of American Legion Hammond Post #3. But maybe, like me, you never knew where the post got its “Hammond” name. I didn’t until I attended the post’s recent celebration of its 100th anniversary. The American Legion itself, not just the local post, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
