PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Middletown police lieutenant no longer faces a charge of simple assault on Wednesday after prosecutors dismissed the case, citing a lack of cooperation from the only witness able to prove the case.At the time of the incident, that witness had been the girlfriend of Lt.
