Drivers cruising Beaumont's Teliaferro Street for the first time tend to hit the brakes when they spot the two white teddy bears perched atop matching blue chairs. It's an odd sight in the old neighborhood: a couple of park benches, a magnolia tree, and two stuffed bears lounging around in the August sun. The bizarre scene is accompanied by a "No Trespassing" sign. Homer Sylvester, 77, said he put out the sign, but he doesn't own the property. Sylvester, tired of seeing the overgrown lot across the street from his place, decided around 20 years ago to make it his pet project. The property's owner moved to Denver, Colorado, but hadn't hired anyone to keep up with the grass.
