Beyoncé Denounces North Carolina’s Lgbt Legislation

Beyoncé played a show in North Carolina Tuesday night, but that doesn’t mean she supports the state’s recent decision to pass legislation that prevents cities from taking measures to protect the LGBTQ community: In a note on her website, the Lemonade singer applauded “the many organizations doing the good work to get this bill overturned” and encouraged fans to get involved with those organizations. “As the Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time,” the note reads, “we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this corse of controversy.” Read More: Why LGBT Advocates Say Bathroom ‘Predators’ Argument Is a Red Herring She goes on to highlight Equality NC, a North Carolina organization that focuses on securing equal rights for LGBTQ North Carolina residents. “Learn more about how you can support Equality NC by donating, volunteering, becoming an ambassador, attending an event, or simply spreading the word!,” the note concludes.
