An 18-wheeler accident this morning has closed one lane of U.S. 96 northbound, about five miles south of Kirbyville, according to a spokesperson for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. The accident occurred just after 7:30 a.m. The driver of the 18-wheeler received only minor injuries and no one else was hurt in the accident, the spokesperson said. The lane will reopen later today, once the fuel from the wrecked big rig is transferred to another truck, according to the spokesperson.
