Big Stone Gap Loop Road Deserves A Ribbon (cutting)

BIG STONE GAP — The last place anyone wanted to be when schools in Big Stone Gap were set to start the day, and when they dismissed, was anywhere near them.Things are a lot different these days.Traffic snarls are only fond — well, probably not so fond — memories for all involved with Powell Valley Primary, Powell Valley Middle and Union High Schools.Even though the new traffic ingress and egress routes were largely built over the summer and went into operation when the new school year began in August, Wise County's school division made it official with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Loop Road project on Thursday.For most, it couldn't come soon enough.
