GRAY — On many occasions in 2018, Daniel Boone will have the best player on the football field in running back Charlie Cole, and that was the case Friday night. An elusive 6-foot-2, 225-pound junior who packs a punch and cruises with deceptive speed, Cole scored twice and ran for 227 yards to push Boone to a 28-14 win over Sullivan South in the season opener for both teams. South coach Justin Hilton, whose team trailed 20-0 just eight minutes into the game, is a believer. “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast,” Hilton said.
