The owners of a bikini bar that Jacksonville inspectors shut down last year have won an agreement from city attorneys to seek new rules for surprise inspections.
The deal this week with operators of the Silver Fox on West Beaver Street could settle a federal lawsuit that argued members of the city’s Drug Abatement Response Team (DART) shut off the electricity and kept the club closed for months for no good reason — and had done that before to other businesses.
Molly Hatchet raising funds for foundation
Molly Hatchet headlines a special concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at River City Brewing Company at 835 Museum Circle in Jacksonville to benefit the Somer Thompson Foundation.
The foundation is named in memory of 7-year-old Somer Thompson, murdered in 2009 by Jarred Harrell in Orange Park.
It took a Jacksonville jury less than an hour to convict Timothy Miles McChriston of first-degree murder Wednesday afternoon in an ambush revenge killing at Moncrief Village Apartments.
McChriston, 27, was convicted for his role in the death of 22-year-old Antonio Bernard Mosley in July 2012. He will be sentenced to life in prison.
McChriston becomes the fourth person convicted in the shooting.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating vandalism at the site of an apartment construction project at 220 Riverside Ave. where a water main was opened early Monday flooding a large portion of the complex.
A security officer at the building said he saw four males get off their bicycles and enter the property, so he yelled at them, according to the incident report.
