Bma Has Questions About Laptops For Students

KINGSPORT -- Before Kingsport City Schools goes down the road of providing all sixth graders with a laptop to use during the school year, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen wants to hear more on how the school system plans to fund the program in the coming years.John Payne, director of technology at KCS, provided an overview of the "pilot" program to the BMA during a worksession Monday afternoon.The idea would be for KCS to purchase 630 Dell Latitude 3340 laptops at $605 each with a total cost of $381,000.
