The city is awaiting test results from four water samples sent to a Houston lab after a maintenance project sapped the system of pressure, which could allow untreated water into the system, said Sgt. Norman Theriot of the city's police department. Joe Keel, utility operations contractor for Sour Lake, said the state mandates that officials issue a boil-water advisory if water pressure dips below a specific threshold.
