Boone Rallies In Bottom Of 7th To Beat Volunteer

GRAY — Talk about rallying on two. Two pitches into the bottom of the seventh inning, Volunteer’s baseball team was one out away from a 3-1 victory Monday at Daniel Boone. Better yet, no Trailblazers were on base. But Boone responded with four straight hits, including Logan Rivers’ walk-off, two-run single, to defeat the Falcons 4-3 in a Big 7 Conference game. Volunteer junior right-hander Noah Johnson stymied Boone (6-3, 1-2) much of the way before Colt Campbell’s line-drive double started the improbable rally. Freshman Cade Elliott followed by pulling a 1-2 pitch for an RBI single just beyond first baseman Alex Wilson near the right-field line.
