One of the state's biggest medical device companies is getting even bigger through a global acquisition. Marlborough-based Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) announced Tuesday that it will pay $4.2 billion acquire BTG plc, a U.K.-based company that focuses on the field of "interventional medicine" — making tiny devices that are used during minimally-invasive procedures for cancer, vascular conditions and other disorders.
