The woman who prepares good old-fashioned scratch cooking using locally grown produce for the students of Boulder Valley schools is going national. Chef Ann Cooper, affectionately known as the “Renegade Lunch Lady,” is launching an online video course to teach school food service workers and child nutrition advocates across the United States to break away from pre-packaged school lunches and move toward meals featuring fresh ingredients and on-the-spot cooking. “There are lots of schools that want to move in the right direction but at the same time they don’t have the expertise they need to put good food practices to work,” said Cooper, who will launch the series Oct.
