The wind carried the scent of incense and the beats of a drum down the sunken Cherry Creek Trail, catching the attention of passing bicyclists and curious onlookers from the street above. Hector Ybarra sang the traditional Native American Church blessing, one used by different tribes and churches, while his wife Kelsie Ybarra and niece Alishya Swenning carried incense over Brazilian artist Alexandre Orion and his two-part “Paramount” mural Thursday afternoon. Orion’s work depicts Aztec, Inca and Navajo iconography and a boy and girl — inspired by his own children — wearing native dress.
