Best Buy Co. ramped up cost-cutting during its fiscal first quarter as its retail revenue continued to slide. Online sales improved, however. The Richfield, Minn., company reported another quarterly loss driven by weaker sales in its European business, which it recently shed. The company last month sold the rest of its stake in Best Buy Europe back to Carphone Warehouse Group PLC for about $775 million to help shore up its profitability. I am a multi-tasker by nature.  I’m energized by catching fly balls from left field and adding them to my juggling act.  That’s why I thrive in a start-up environment.   My bias is to hire like-wired professionals because, as a start-up, we are still too thin on the ground for broad based specialization.  That will come later when we have “more meat on our bones.”

With all of the claims and counter-claims, the big money acquisitions and advertising hype, it’s easy to get the impression that every big enterprise software company out there has easily made the jump to the Cloud, mastered Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and is forging ahead to a glorious future that you are lucky to share.
