Cary Trustees Reject $60,000 Gift From Anonymous Donor

Cary Mayor Mark Kownick recently found a surprise in the mail: A $60,000 cashier's check from a philanthropist couple that asked to remain anonymous. The Cary residents said the money could be used to replace the village's entryway signs. The check came with a letter. “We recently sold our business and would like to give back to our community, which continues to be an important part of our family’s lives,” the letter said.
