The Case For (relative) Calm

President-elect Donald Trump has promised to end birthright citizenship as soon as he gets into office to make good on campaign promises aiming to restrict immigration and redefining what it means to be American. But any efforts to halt the policy would face steep legal hurdles. Birthright citizenship means anyone born in the United States automatically becomes an American citizen.

HBO's series 'Somebody Somewhere," just ended its three season run. It features former New York City Cabaret performer Bridget Everett as Sam, who moves back to Manhattan, Kansas to take care of her ailing sister who passed away before the series begins. The series is a careful and intimate portrayal of friendship, family and love that expresses true feelings without expounding on the traumas the characters have faced in their lives. Advocates for a government-run healthcare program applauded U. S. Rep. Ro Khanna for pushing back during a Sunday morning interview in which ABC News anchor Martha Raddatz casually dismissed Medicare for All as a proposal that has no chance of ever being implemented. The congressman said he was "not surprised" by the response to the killing, in which the suspect has yet to be named or found by authorities five days later. "I mean, people are getting denied cancer treatment," said Khanna.
