JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  — Jordan Scarlett scored for the sixth consecutive game, Antonio Callaway had the first rushing touchdown of his career and No. 14 Florida used a dominant defensive effort to beat Georgia 24-10 on Saturday.
Playing just their second game in four weeks, the Gators won their third straight in the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party." It was Florida's 21st victory against the Bulldogs in the last 27 years.

ATLANTA  — Justin Thomas ran and threw for a combined 459 yards with four touchdowns and Georgia Tech recovered after blowing a three-touchdown lead to beat Duke 38-35 on Saturday.
Thomas finally secured the win with a 50-yard run, weaving through Duke defenders, on a third-and-17 play from the Georgia Tech 21 with less than 2 minutes remaining.

Ranging from donning comfortable shoes to avoiding wearing masks, local law enforcement agencies are stressing safety tips before Halloween on Monday.
Aiken County Sheriff's Capt. Eric Abdullah said deputies will patrol local neighborhoods, adding that the sheriff's office is holding its annual candy giveaway from 3 to 5 p.m. at 420 Hampton Ave.
"If parents are worried about their kids, we're giving away candy at our headquarters," Abdullah said. "Halloween is supposed to be a fun night, but people still need to be cautious."

An Augusta woman reported Friday that several items of value were stolen from her apartment recently.
Richmond County sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex on Stevens Creek Road. The victim said she had been out of town since Monday and returned to find her front door unsecured. Deputies found that the rear bedroom window had also been broken out.
Among the missing items are two Macbook computers, a 32-inch flat-screen television set, jewelry and several designer purses.

A man reported to police Friday that a large amount of cash had been stolen from his vehicle.
The victim told Richmond County sheriff's deputies that $4,000 had been taken sometime between Wednesday and Friday.
The man told deputies that he works at Barnyard Flea Market on Doug Barnard Parkway and had put a bundle of cash totaling $5,544 under the driver's seat. When he checked Friday, he discovered $4,000 was missing.
He said he was unsure of where it was taken, and the last time he had seen the money was Wednesday.

WASHINGTON — The FBI informed Congress Friday it is investigating whether there is classified information in new emails that have emerged in its probe of Hillary Clinton's private server. The FBI said in July its investigation was finished.
The disclosure raises the possibility of the FBI reopening the criminal investigation involving the Democratic presidential nominee just days before the election, although it is not clear if that will happen.
Clinton's campaign didn't immediately respond to request for comment.

ATLANTA - A Georgia death row inmate convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend is set to be executed next month, state Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced Thursday.

Steven Frederick Spears, 54, is scheduled to die on Nov. 16 at the state prison in Jackson by injection of the barbiturate pentobarbital. Spears was convicted of murder in the August 2001 death of Sherri Holland at her home in Dahlonega.

An 11-year-old elementary school student was removed from school Thursday after bringing an inoperable firearm and a knife to school.
According to reports, South Columbia Elementary School principal, Lisa Reeder, told police she received word from a parent Wednesday that their child told them a student had a knife on the bus. Upon learning the identity of the student, Reeder brought the student into the office after arriving at school Thursday.
