Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, opened a large lead Tuesday evening over Chia-Chi Teng, even though the challenger had spent a half-million dollars of his own money on the campaign. In early unofficial results, Chaffetz led 79-21 percent in votes primarily from counties that voted by mail, and were able to post results quickly.
