Two final claims against the owner of the Nova Star ferry ship, which operated between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, for two years, are in federal court this week.
Pratt Abbott dry cleaners argues that it is owned $195,000 for cleaning services and linens it bought for the cruise operation and the city of Portland is seeking nearly $163,000 for facilities it installed at the Ocean Gateway terminal for the ferry.
Other claims filed by fuel suppliers, the Portland Pilots and others, which at one point totaled $2.6 million, were settled previously.
After two disappointing seasons and more than $40 million in subsidies from Canada, the operators of the ferry shut down last fall and a federal court ordered the ship seized to satisfy unpaid bills.

BOSTON — The Boston Police Department’s body camera pilot program is being launched with 100 officers selected by a department consultant after none volunteered.

Hunter Bragg was a healthy 7-year-old who died of “blunt and sharp force injuries of head and neck,” the result of a dog attack, according to the medical examiner’s report on the boy who was killed by a pit bull in Corinna on June 4.
The town animal control officer’s dog bite report on the attack, released several days after it happened, said Hunter’s throat was attacked by the male pit bull, but didn’t specify whether it was a bite, or more.
The medical examiner’s report however, dated June 6, details a brutal and horrific mauling, with injuries to the head, face and neck, including a perforated larynx and trachea, sharp force injuries to the esophagus, hemorrhages in the neck and mouth, and “multiple” wounds to the scalp, face, left shoulder and armpit.
