Three goodbyes in three days: Why these Utah parents watched their children die at home

Years of suffering - and months of struggling with the decision to end it - had brought them here: To a bright white living room where three of their children lay side by side by side, waiting to die. Les and Celeste Chappell loved the children, of course, and the thought of letting them go was excruciating, but holding on was just as painful. The children - Christopher, 20; Elizabeth, 19; and James, 15 - had been ravaged by a ruthless neurological disorder that, over the years, had stolen their ability to see and to swallow, to move and to remember.

Liberty Co. woman, former school officer accused of shooting husband

A Liberty County grand jury has indicted a former Conroe ISD police officer, Holly Marie Matlock, 35, on a second-degree felony charge of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon, stemming from a May 29 incident at her home in Raywood, Texas. According to Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader, Matlock is accused of shooting her husband in the leg with her duty weapon during a physical altercation. "It was determined that when Holly Matlock returned home from work, an argument started with her son," Rader said.

 

Montgomery Co. detectives find murder weapon on Google Street View

Montgomery County Sheriff's detectives used Google Street View to help identify a murder suspect accused of killing a New Caney man in July, documents show. Raul Najera, 25, is accused of running over Ray Jasso, 28, July 2 at a birthday party in the 18200 block of Emerald Court. Detectives believe Najera slammed a Chevrolet SUV into Jasso and another person before fleeing the scene. Days after the murder, detectives used Google Street View to help locate the SUV they believe Najera used when he ran Jasso down.
