FISH of Vancouver expands pantry hours

The west-side food pantry FISH of Vancouver has expanded its hours to include two Saturdays every month.
People expressed interest in volunteering on weekends at the pantry, which used to be open on weekdays only, said Katlin Smith, the pantry’s board president.
The pantry at 906 Harney St. is now open 10 a.m. to noon every first and third Saturday, in addition to its regular hours of 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. FISH provides emergency food to residents of ZIP codes 98660, 98661, 98663, 98685 and 98686.

On his way to Camp David on Sunday, President Trump was questioned about the financial strain the partial government shutdown has put on workers.
“Mr. President, do you relate to the pain of federal workers who can’t pay their bills?” a reporter asked.
“I can relate,” Trump said. “And I’m sure that the people that are on the receiving end will make adjustments. They always do. And they’ll make adjustments.”

 

CASEE program hosts student open house

BRUSH PRAIRIE — Battle Ground Public Schools will host an open house for the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education program at 6 p.m. Thursday at the CASEE Building B, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie.
Prospective students are invited to the program’s Science Night to eat pizza, ask questions and get additional information about the half-day program, which offers a hands-on science curriculum for high school students.
Applications for new students are due March 27.
