Coleman Wants Ability To Fine Owners Of Blighted Properties

Appearing on the city’s top 10 list of blighted commercial properties yesterday caught Jeffrey Hatem’s attention. So did Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s proposal to fine owners of damaged and unsafe commercial properties $1,000 a day if they’re not repaired. “I’ll have to sell it or do something,” said Hatem, who also was in court yesterday to deal with violations on the vacant commercial property at 1462-1464 E.
