Colorado lawmakers are dropping their effort to allow safe-injection sites for opioid users this year — and a House Democratic leader says it’s partly because Denver got ahead of the state on the issue. House Majority Leader Alec Garnett, D-Denver, in a separate meeting with media, blamed the fact that the Denver City Council and Mayor Michael Hancock approved a law in late 2018 that would allow the city to host a supervised drug-use facility.
