A severe thunderstorm that brought dime-size hail and more than 2 inches of rain hit Columbia County on Thursday evening. According to Pam Tucker, the county’s emergency management director, the storm ripped through subdivisions and homes along Hardy McManus Road just before 6 p.m. In all, 2.43 inches of rain was reported in less than an hour, Tucker said. read more
