Just because the final trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's PACIFIC RIM was released last week doesn't mean nothing new from the film will be seen until it hits theaters. Warner Bros. has put out a featurette on the epic looking sci-fi movie and the focus is on how the pilots operate the massive Jaegers. Magnolia previously picked up the film for the U.S. Erik Skjoldbærg, whose Insomnia was remade by Christopher Nolan, directs the film which stars Aksel Hennie, Wes Bentley, Stephen Lang, Stephanie Sigman and Jonathan LaPaglia. The high-octane conspiracy thriller is inspired by 70s classics The Conversation, Three Days Of The Condor and Chinatown. It will be released in Scandinavia in September. TrustNordisk handles international sales. Mugshot Films has attached The Dead director Howard J. Ford to World War II action film The Tank. Shooting starts later this year on the Tom Boyle-scripted story of a Russian tank crew that’s relentlessly pursued by a mysterious German tank during the war. Due to scheduling conflicts with Ford’s The Dead sequel, he is no longer directing thriller Indelible, the co-production between Armory Films and Mugshot which he was tipped for last year. The book by Vanity Fair’s Amy Fine Collins was published by Simon & Schuster in 2011. Dignity is fully financing the feature adaptation which is written by Sue Kramer (Gray Matters). Jill Footlick is producer; exec producer is Marina Grasic. The project is casting and will shoot next spring with sales to start in Berlin.
