I was watching the wild rollercoaster of a second game between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics yesterday. The Celtics looks like they might steal one when they lead early by over ten points.
I just knew that the Heat would make a comeback, and they did. By late third quarter or early fourth quarter, they not only destroyed Boston’s lead, but they also went ahead by as much as seven or eight points.
The Celtics made a run of their own, caught up and sent the game to overtime.
Rajon Rondo played a phenomenal game, ending with 44 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Ray Allen had a decent game for once, shooting a good percentage and scoring 13 points, including the three-pointer that sent the game into overtime.
The problem I have with this game is that an obvious no call decided the game.
Towards the last minute of overtime when the score was tied, Rondo drove in for a layup. He was obviously hit on the face pretty hard by Dwyane Wade, but the refs didn’t call it. Rondo went down, and the Heat scored on transition playing five on four. It’s a four point swing - instead of being down by two, the Heat went up by two. This is assuming that Rondo would have made his two free throws.
In a close games like this one, it sucks that the refs gave the game to Miami. Usually, the aggressors tend to get the calls, even if it’s ambiguous. Wade’s foul on Rondo was an easy call, but the refs let it go. I bet they were retaliating for Rondo’s comments yesterday about sending Lebron James and Dwyane Wade to the deck.
