I know it would probably be the most boring NBA Finals ever, but I was kinda rooting for the old farts - San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics. I wouldn’t mind if either wins another title, especially the Boston Celtics. I like these teams because there aren’t anyone with a super-huge ego, except for maybe Paul Pierce - but compared to Lebron James, it’s pretty small.
I just knew the Celtics will lose. I’ve seen these games before. They would lead early, but by the end, the lead would eventually evaporate and they lose at the end. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen just can’t keep it up for 48 minutes. They always get worn out in the end.
With the Celtics loss to the Heat yesterday, we’re getting younglings vs. younglings. Of course, I’m rooting against the Heat - or more accurately, James. I have no issues with Dwayne Wade or Chris Bosh. They’re both humble superstars.
Balance wise, Oklahoma City is a more balanced team. They have gunners (Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden) and bigs that can defend (Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins). Like Kobe Bryant said after his Lakers lost to them, the Thunder are explosive. No double digit lead is safe with them.
Now that the two teams I was rooting for are out, I don’t really have much interest in the NBA Finals. Although I’m rooting for the Thunder, it’s actually more that I’m just rooting against the Heat.
