Comment On Review: 'people Like Us,' A Drama In Action Style

Don't get me wrong, the movie had some AWESOME scenes but goddamn. Why would they take 3 unknown prisoners on a CIA plane with bags on their heads when they know that Bane wears a mask ("They work for the mercenary, the masked man." "Bane?"? Why wouldn't you check their goddamned faces first? I realize this is a nitpick but it's just a precursor to the other parts of the movie that all add up to an inability to suspend disbelief. Warning: full spoilers for the episode follow. As always, tonight's Bates Motel was packed. Tall dark and Sheriff demonstrates that he is, in fact, the man; Emma and Norman momentarily step into the third act of a 1980's John Hughes-directed adolescent coming-of-age film; Norma selects a very Norma moment to play true confessions; and Bradley and Dylan take one more step towards official canoodling. In the midst of all that, there is one thing we all want to know: Did Norman pop his killer cherry? Forgive the crass phrasing, I suppose I'm still swept-up in the winter dance setting. It's interesting though, that sort of surrealistic high-school dance sequence did set us up for our protagonist to have a life-defining moment, a triumphant entrance into maturity, so it was sick, but in some ways perfect, to have this be the night that Norman makes his first unprovoked kill.
