Gut-check time came early this year, and — with no help coming from Olympia — the King County Council showed guts. Confronted with a $75 million Metro budget shortfall and steep projected cuts in bus service, the nine-member Council voted unanimously in February to put a small tax measure and $60 car fee before the voters in an April 22nd special election.
