Christopher Walken has been cast as Captain Hook in NBC’s live broadcast of Peter Pan. “He might be the first tap-dancing Hook you’ve ever seen,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt told TV critics this morning. Added Walken: “I started my career in musicals and it’s wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child and to work with Neil Meron and Craig Zadan again after ‘Hairspray.’ It’s a chance to put on my tap shoes again.” Walken, who is currently seen dancing in Clint Eastwood’s screen version of Broadway hit Jersey Boys, cbegan on the Broadway stage in musicals, and has jumped off the screen in a number of film musicals, including Hairspray, and the Steve Martin film Pennies From Heaven.
