CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union is going to court to challenge a new law that limits the time period third parties have to petition their way onto the ballot. The federal court lawsuit, filed Tuesday on behalf of the Libertarian Party, claims the law makes it difficult, if not impossible, for the party to place candidates on ballots and qualify as a recognized political party in future general elections. The lawsuit notes that in the 2012 general election, the Libertarian Party collected the necessary signatures in New Hampshire and ran candidates for president and vice president, Congress, three executive council seats and two state senate seats.
