We’re attracted to them because they’re great athletes, or international paragons of business, or generally likable but star-crossed prominent locals, or are attractive physically. (We’re animals with complex layers of attraction, but chief among them is “looks.”) Some we’ve watched become wealthy and feel a little like they owe us something, even if it’s just a wry smile of 206 allegiance.
