Wildlife area to open on former coal mining site

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A new wildlife area is set to open on North Dakota land that was once dug up for coal mining. Falkirk Mining Co. and Great River Energy have donated 729 acres of land near Underwood to the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The Coal Lake Wildlife Management Area will be open to public access for hunting, fishing, trapping and other outdoor activities. Lt.
