World War II Bainbridge internees get recognition from Congress

As Congress flew home Friday morning, after Speaker John Boehner adjourned the House until after November’s election, freshman Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Wash., was receiving plaudits for  a small, symbolic legislative accomplishment. Kilmer succeeded in getting the House to pass legislation adding the word “Exclusion” to the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Memorial.  Sen.
