"The LEGO Movie" writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are coming back for the sequel in one of those capacities. The pair were originally only planning to produce the sequel, but Deadline reports that they have now signed on with Warner Bros. Pictures to write it as well. No word on whether they’ll direct it as yet, but the move is a good step up for the film considering the duo's reputation as two of the most savvy comedy film writers and directors currently making movies. Warners has already dated the sequel for May 26th 2017 release following the first film hauling in $468 million worldwide, the third highest grossing film of the year so far.
