Comment on Jurors may be scam targets, officials say

Alachua County Clerk of Court J.K. “Buddy” Irby is working with the courts to alert all prospective jurors of possible scams going on nationwide. Identity theft scammers have called identifying themselves as jury personnel and have attempted to solicit personal information such as Social Security numbers and bank account information, Irby said in an email. A number of courts across the country, including Alachua County’s, also have reported that residents are being targeted by a juror “phishing” email, Irby said.
