Death of child left in refrigerator officially ruled a homicide; charges expected

Ayahna Comb's dehydrated and malnourished body was discovered in the refrigerator of her mother's apartment in southwest Houston in early June. Doctors look for signs of child abuse, and that takes longer. After the discovery of Ayahna's body, CPS workers took custody of her younger sister and placed her with a relative of the girl's father. Instead of calling for help, she wrapped her daughter's little body in a blanket decorated with red butterflies and stowed her in a refrigerator, where the body lay for months. Reached by phone, Armand Comb said the medical examiner's ruling left him even more worried and confused.
