District officials said they recently discontinued the re-enactments — which had dropped off in recent years — because they don’t tell the whole story behind the 1889 rush to acquire unassigned lands originally set aside for Indian tribes. “It is not only a good idea to discontinue the Land Run re-enactments but it is the right thing to do,” said Star Yellowfish, the district’s administrator for American Indian student services.Read more on NewsOK.com
