Creativity on display at the Moore school district's Fairview Elementary reading fair

BY TIM WILLERT, Staff WriterStudents at Fairview Elementary in the Moore school district put their creativity to the test Thursday night, hoping to become better readers in the process. About 160 kids — some with help from classmates or family members — demonstrated reading comprehension through colorful displays that showcased book characters, plots, conflicts and resolutions. They identified story elements from a book of fiction and created boards that captured the essence of the story. “It’s a great opportunity for the kids to really hone in on the skills that they need to become stronger readers,” said Tegan Sexton, a fifth-grade reading teacher.
