Stamford man makes guilty pleas in Bradford's knifing

The second of two men involved in a ferocious stabbing inside a popular Bedford Street night club in June 2013 has pleaded guilty to assault charges. By making the plea under the Alford Doctrine, Malachi does not agree to all the state's facts of the case but understands that prosecutors have enough evidence against him to obtain a conviction if the case went to trial. Last week Steven "Seagull" Barnes, 25, of Southwood Drive, Stamford, made the guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree assault before Judge Richard Comerford at the Stamford and he will be sentenced to 10 years in jail and five years of special parole when he returns to court April 30. Barnes, who was about to go to trial on the charges, was the person who stabbed the two at Bradford's Grill and Tavern on Bedford Street just before 1 a.m.
