Consumer prices dip along with energy prices

Overall consumer prices in Houston fell 0.9 percent in January and February, thanks to lower prices for electricity and gasoline, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday. The January-February dip marked the second consecutive bimonthly decline of overall consumer prices in the Houston area, according to the bureau. The so-called core rate - which eliminates the volatile categories of energy and food - increased 0.4 percent during the first two months of the year.
