Comment on Local community colleges a good deal for students

Albuquerque’s local community college – and similar schools across the country – could provide a significant and immediate payoff for bargain-hunting students and their parents. New data from the U.S. Department of Education reveal that full-time undergraduate students at public, two-year institutions pay the lowest average overall amount to attend college. A report by the National Center for Education Statistics, released last week, defines the price of attending college as the total of tuition, fees, books, supplies, transportation and living expenses. Nationally, the average total price tag for attending a community college for one year is $15,000.
