A line of thunderstorms blasting through the Houston area from south Texas brought hail, flooding and winds of up 80 mph that damaged buildings, the National Weather Service said Saturday. Winds blew the roof off a home in Jamaica Beach on Galveston Island late Friday and hail the size of tennis balls were reported in Angleton in Brazoria County, where high winds collapsed a circus tent, according to the Weather Service. The powerful thunder storms boiled in from South Texas as an upper low drifting over the North Texas combined with a subtropical jet stream and a stationary warm air mass, said Paul Lewis, Weather Service meteorologist.
